Pivot East has hooked Samsung as a major sponsor for the event primed to happen later this year. The start of submitting of applications will be sometime next week and entries will be accepted from 6 countries Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi and South Sudan
A partnership agreement between m:lab East Africa and Samsung to formalise the deal was signed at the close of 2011. The partnership deal which also includes sponsorship of m:lab East Africa’s experience center makes Samsung one of the major sponsors of Pivot East. The partnership also includes sponsorship of iHub’s www.pivoteast.com – East Africa’s regional mobile apps. developer competition and conference in 2012 green membership program for the calendar year 2012. The Pivot East sponsorship translates into financial support for logistics of the developer competition and conference. Surplus proceeds of sponsorships arising from organizing Pivot East will be channeled to support operations of the regional mobile applications laboratory hosted by m:lab East Africa at Bishop Magua Center in Nairobi – Kenya.
This is great.I look forward to the event
Am I the only one who sees Samsung becoming the major player in Kenya? Many developments happening of late have convinced me so.
Actually,Samsung is proving to be a great company in terms of promoting local developers.
Let the others concentrate on just the device sales and we see who gains
I guess Samsung has tried its best to overcome some fear that still keep the other companies from embracing Kenya/EA and Africa as a friend.
Samsung did a global thing on this, not only in EA. But the idea to be very visible in East Africa has made it have growth, this is the mobile company to watch this year.
