Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for Samsung Galaxy S II oficially out

ICS Galaxy S IIThe wait is finally over! Android Ice Cream Sandwich wait was riddled with impatience since Samsung announced on December that several of Samsung high end devices will be getting Android Ice Cream in the first quarter of 2012.

Several false alarms happened including saying that ICS would be coming out in the 15th via the Samsung Israel facebook page, an update that didnt last long, the most recent was a press update that ICS would be coming on the 10th of this month. They promptly apologized and said they would notify users via the Samsung Mobile twitter page. The day has finally materialized.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich will be available in European countries like Poland, Hungary, Sweden and Korea starting today, March 13th for the Samsung Galaxy S II. Updates for the Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 will follow, though not on a define date.

Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab 7″, Galaxy S Plus, Galaxy S SCL(Super Clear LCD) and Galaxy W will get an Android 2.3 update startign End of March to give these users a near ICS feel. This, for example will include Face unlock, snapshot, photo editor and other features for Galaxy S . Availability for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will vary for market to market with wireless carriers playing a huge role in the scheduling in specific markets for specific models.
