Orange Kenya has launched a product that allows pre-paid customers on the network access emergency airtime if they run out of it and need to talk. The emergency top-up will be payable within 24 hours and within that time there will be no charges. In what may seem as a motivator for users to pay within the 24 hours, the top-up will attract a 10% fee if you go past the first 24 hours since emergency airtime acquisition.
PEWA will be available initially to subscribers who have less than Kshs 5 on their phones and this will fit in the category where a user is able to get Kshs 15 emergency credit. This will be reviewed upwards, of-course based on customer demand, and we could see bigger emergency airtime options in the near future. The credit will be use-able for both on-net and off-net calls, sms, data and other Orange services like subscription to Holla bundled offer.
To get the emergency airtime subscribers will be required to dial *133# on your Orange line.
