HP VSAHP Proliant Gen8 servers now packs a complimentary version of HP StoreVirtual Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA). This comes with a limited license of VSA upon the purchase of at least 2 HP Proliant Gen8 servers. Aiming for the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, this bundle is a cost-effective solution with reduced complexities, privacy protection, reduced data loss and accelerated data transfer.

According to David Scott, HP’s Storage group senior VP says, “HP is the only storage provider that delivers powerful, efficient servers combined with free software-defined storage to help our customers maximize server virtualization ROI, even with a limited budget.”

SMEs can utilize the free version of VSA to deploy up to one terabyte of capacity on a maximum of three servers, for a total of 3TBs. Multiple machines can be clustered to create a virtual SAN that is more resilient than traditional direct-attached capacity.

Recently Gartner reported that 82% of server workloads will be virtualized by 2016. This measures up to predictions by IDC which places 80% of applications in virtual enviroments by 2015. HP’s packaging of VSA with Gen8 servers should reduce the complexity of managing these installation and lowers costs by by 60% per user over the prior product generations. thus helping to mobilize the entire workforce.
