2014 was a great year for mobile gamers, with extremely addictive titles such as Minecraft, The Walking Dead: Season 2, Clash of the Clans and many more providing players with hours of entertainment. It’s only the beginning of the year, but it seems that 2015 is destined to provide gamers with an even larger range of quality mobile games. We take a look at 5 of the most highly anticipated mobile games that will be released this year.
Mean Girls
Fans of the hit chick flick Mean Girls are in for a treat this year as the gaming company So Much Drama has announced the release of a tribute game that can be played on iPhones and iPads. The premise of the game is that a new set of Plastics are trying to gain control of North Shore High School and it’s your mission to restore order to the social hierarchy. The comical modes of play, such as ‘You can’t sit here’ and ‘She doesn’t even go here’, and the hilarious dialogue are sure to keep fans thoroughly amused.
Brothers in Arms 3
The latest instalment in the hit franchise Brothers in Arms, Brothers in Arms 3: Sons of War, is scheduled to be released this year on iOS and Android platforms. Set during the Second World War, Brothers in Arms 3 offers gamers several modes of play, most of which see players assuming the role of Sergeant Wright, who leads a squad of 12 men. The 12 soldiers have unique abilities and it is your job to assign each to the task he is most fit to complete. Some missions require stealth, others will involve leading your men into enemy territory and engaging in direct combat. You have a range of weapons at your disposal, but you can also buy more impressive artilleries with the money you earn.
Rogue Star
iPhone and iPad users can look forward to the release of Rogue Star early this year. Created by James Duncan, the indie developer who previously worked on Fable 2 and Fable 3, Rogue Star is expected to cause a renewed interest in the space combat and trade genre. The details of the game are still sketchy, but if the trailer is anything to go by, iOS users are in for an explosive game this year.
Gunbrick
Gunbrick is an incredibly simple, yet very addictive action and puzzle game. Set in a futuristic world where cars are a thing of the past, you inhabit a brick with a gun on one side and a shield on the other. Rolling along you will face confrontations with the police, nerds and mutants, all of which prepare you for your showdowns with a number of impressive bosses. Eirik Suhrke’s music plays in the background and perfectly complements the game’s retro feel. The design is reminiscent of 90s console favourites such as Mega Man and will greatly appeal to players of that generation.
Aces and Eights
Casino games are proving incredibly popular on mobile devices, with a large variety of slots, poker games and other card games available on iOS and Android platforms. Aces and Eights is expected to be one of the most popular forms of video poker this year. The game is similar to traditional forms of poker in most ways: players receive 5 cards and have the option of discarding or keeping the cards they want. The difference is that this form of poker awards larger wins for specific card combinations, such as aces and eights—hence the name. Those who excel at this form of poker have the option of playing for real money at an RTG mobile casino, like Grand Fortune Casino.
