One of the standout features of Samsung smartphones for at least the last one year has been the displays. The dual-edge Super AMOLED displays on its premium smartphone lineup to be specific. They have spawned a new level of use case scenarios never seen before besides being extremely beautiful. Up until now, if you required a device with such displays then you had to be prepared to hand over your money to the Korean device maker.
Emerging reports indicate that may not be the case always. As we had heard previously, Samsung’s display division may be working with several Chinese device makers who are keen on releasing to the market devices with dual-edge displays that work or mimic the functionality of Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge, S6 Edge+ and S7 Edge. These device makers include Huawei, Xiaomi and Vivo.
Vivo’s upcoming XPlay 5 smartphone is expected to be the first product of this newfound partnership between the four companies as it is expected to pack a dual-edge display. Images leaked from Chinese microblogging site Weibo also indicate the same.
