Twitter is 10 years old! It seems like just yesterday we were signing up for the platform (Well, I joined in 2009 and it was relatively young) and it joins Facebook in the double digit age. It was founded by Jack Dorsey, Biz Stone, Evan Williams and Noah Glass. In its initial years, it grew rather rapidly compared to its rival Facebook, and this quickly declined due to several factors.
Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s current CEO returned back to the helm of the company after it underwent a rough patch under Dick Costolo. He is credited as having the first tweet which he posted today 10 years ago.

It is rather interesting Twitter was finally launched to the general public on Equinox and the start of spring on the northern hemisphere. To celebrate their decade of existence, they tweeted a video montage of the most talked about events that have happened in the course of their history.

In the video montage, they displayed events in terms of videos, tweets and vines that were shared in the Twitter ecosystem complete with this animated tweet:
On this 10th birthday, we thank you for making history, driving change, lifting each other up, and laughing together , every day. #LoveTwitter
Some of the major highlights that were shared on Twitter include the famous Hudson River crash landing, Paris bombing, the 2014 world cup, Egypt revolution, Boston Marathon terror attack and hashtags like #BringBackOurGirls and #LoveWins.
Twitter also has sent a messages to your email which you signed up for the service. This is what I received:
These are major events that happened all over the world and it shows how Twitter is powerful in providing the center stage to tweet live current events. Currently, their #LoveTwitter hashtag is one of the top hashtags of the day and we hope Twitter will become much better in the coming years.
