Pinterest, the social network that lets you create virtual boards which contain items of interest or in your wishlist is one cool network. It is quite popular where it has over 100 million monthly active users and has been touted as having the potential of becoming a major player in e-commerce thanks to its unique interface.

The company has made several changes to the app to make it easier to identify content like having a revamped search bar that can let you identify verify accounts. In the social media world, there has been a new trend (curation) where these networks organize content into various content so that they can be more meaningful.

It seems Pinterest has joined the curation bandwagon as Venture Beat reports where the company has now began rolling out Featured Collections. A spokesperson told the publication that Featured Collections “serves as another channel to discover content” and also to make it easy to browse pins.

Just like how curated content is treated in other social networks, editors in Pinterest will curate popular pins, boards, searches and users that you will find in Featured Collections. These collections will be customized with a local feel where local Pinterest teams will come up with these collections after checking out the trending data and posts done by celebrities or brands.

As of now, these Featured Collections will be available in few countries which are France, Germany, UK and Japan and will be available on the web and on Android. This is an important update for people who like discovering new ideas and content on the social network and it is a step in the right direction for the company.
