Some people sat in a meeting and agreed that “Enjoy 6” was very much a proper name for a budget smartphone.
That looks to be the case because Huawei announced that device yesterday as a Chinese market exclusive meant to fend off the competition brought by similar budget devices from Xiaomi and several other local brands.
As has been the case with Xiaomi’s budget devices, there are fewer compromises when it comes to what Huawei will be offering budget-conscious Chinese customers with the Enjoy 6. There is, for instance, a bigger battery and a fingerprint scanner at the back.
Specifications of the device are as follows:
Display | 5-inch HD (720p) AMOLED |
Processor | Octa-core MediaTek MT6750 |
Memory | 3GB RAM; 16GB internal storage (expandable via microSD) |
Camera | 13MP rear with LED flash; 5MP front |
Operating System | Android 6.0 with EMUI 4.1 layered on top |
Battery | 4,100mAh |
Network | 3G, 4G LTE |
Connectivity | Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS |
Other | Dual SIM |
Colour options | Gold, gray, white, pink and blue |
The device will cost an equivalent of $192 when it goes on sale on November 1st. That is still more expensive than Xiaomi’s Redmi 3s but it should do as Huawei bends backwards to attend to a segment that still matters if it is to keep its hold of the top 3 smartphone vendor in the world slot.
