We can regard Snapchat Stories as the platform’s headlining feature where the over 158 million active Snapchat users share their photos and videos to their friends that last for only 24 hours. It has grown over time where Snapchat has added improvements to how we see them, addition of Lenses and the ability to save Snaps as Memories for later use.
However, there is still more to be done for the new public company and today, Snap has announced that its users will be able to search for Stories within Snapchat.
Back in 2014, Snap introduced Our Story which the company intended to be used by people of the same location to contribute Snaps to the same Story. This was actually awesome since you would have several multiple camera angles of let’s say a concert that people attended and shared on Snapchat.
Now Snap has revealed that the Snaps created by the community and added to Our Story overwhelmed their curation team and inspired them to create something new
“We’ve built a new way to understand what’s happening in Snaps that are submitted to Our Story and to create new Stories using advanced machine learning,” They said in the post. Apparently with this new feature, you will be able to search over one million ‘unique Stories’ on Snapchat.
The results will include professionally curated Stories as well as events that are being shared on Snapchat like a basketball game or Fashion week shows.
According to Snap, it will be easy to add your point of view to ‘Our Story’ where you only need to take a Snap and add to it. It might be included in the relevant Stories depending on its content.
Sadly, they are only rolling out Stories in Search today in select cities.
