It is official, the refurbished Galaxy Note 7, branded “Galaxy Note 7R”, is going on sale. The date has not been confirmed yet but we do have our estimates which are some time in June.

The Galaxy Note 7R just got a safety certification from the US Federal Communications Commission, which could potentially see the device make its way to the US.

According to leaked images and information, the Note 7R is expected to sport a 3200 mAh battery and run on Android 7.0 Nougat. The original Note 7 featured a 3,500 mAh battery and run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

However, the big news is that the Note 7R could cost as low as 400 dollars.

A Samsung official was quoted by The Investor saying,“We have not yet decided on the phone’s launch schedule. We plan to launch the phone before the Galaxy Note 8 that comes out later this year.”

This statement also puts to bed the doubts that people had regarding whether Samsung would make a Note device this year, it’s coming!

The original Note 7 was released in August of 2016. I will not hold my breath for a similar release window for the Note 8, seeing how the Galaxy S8 was slightly delayed, but it is good to know that Samsung’s money machine (the note series) is very much functional.

We asked Samsung Electronics East Africa whether the Note 7R would make its way to the Kenyan market and unfortunately the answer was no.
