WhatsApp has let its users share a limited range of files with a limited maximum size of 16 megabytes. Well it seems that has all changed thanks to a report by WABetaInfo.
According to the tipster, WhatsApp has rolled an update today on iOS, Android and WindowsPhone where you will be able to share all file types, which is a huge update from the previous limitation of only sending only pdf/doc/docx/pptx/rtf/txt/xls/csv files and the likes.
Also in the update, you will be able to send files that are upto 128MB on iOS and 100MB on Android. On desktop, you’ll be able to send upto Previously, WhatsApp had a limitation of only letting you send files that are upto 16MB large which may be large for a Word document or a pdf but relatively small in the case of a video. With this update, you’ll now be able to receive better quality audio or video since these are the file types that are most likely to benefit with the increased limit.
According to WABetaInfo, this feature is being tested on some users at the moment so you will have to wait for a while to see it being rolled out in your end.
Although it is commendable that WhatsApp is making sure that users share larger files, they are still behind the competition. Telegram for example lets you share any file upto 1.5 gigabytes which is way more than what Whatsapp is offering. Well at least now we will be able to send uncompressed photos to our friends.
