Infinix today has announced two new smartphones in the Kenyan market, the Smart 3 and Smart 3 Plus which are geared towards the consumer on a budget.
Smart 3 Plus
Starting with the Smart 3 Plus, it features a 6.2 inch HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio and a waterdrop display. It runs on the Mediatek 6761 processor and it is paired with 32GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. The internal storage can be expanded by an additional 265GB via a microSD card slot.
The Infinix Smart 3 Plus also has dual 4G standby which is great for those people who use more than one SIM card in one phone.
Infinx has also been able to include a triple camera setup on this phone at this price point. There is a 13MP main camera, a ‘night detection’ camera and a 2MP RGB depth camera presumably for better portrait photos and night time photos. There is also a ‘dual high brightness’ LED flash to illuminate your subjects well. There is also an upgraded PANO mode for taking better panoramic shots. The front facing camera is a 8MP unit.
The cameras feature ‘AI scene detection’ which intelligently identifies faces, objects and light conditions to optimize photos.
The Smart 3 Plus also has an impressive 3500 mAh battery which plus what Infinix says is ‘intelligent optimizing management by software’ means that it will have great battery life.
The phone runs on Android 9 Pie.
Smart 3
The Infinix Spark 3 is the cheaper version of the Smart 3 Plus and it shows from the specifications.
It has a 5.5 inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch with a 19:9 aspect ratio. It has 16GB of internal memory and 1GB of RAM. There is microSD card slot expansion of upto 256GB if you need to.
It has a 3050mAh battery which is normal at this price range. It ships with Android 9 Pie and will have 4G support. It also shares the same MediaTek 6761 processor to power the phone.
It differs from the Smart 3 Plus slightly in the camera department. It has a dual 13MP+8MP primary camera system and a 8MP front facing camera.
Price and availability
The Smart 3 and the Smart 3 Plus will be available for purchase at Infinixmall and Infinix outlets countrywide at a retail price of Kshs 7,999 and Kshs 11,999 respectively.
