DStv Kenya Slashes Package Fees Significantly

MultiChoice has been struggling to make ends meet partly due to the popularity of streaming apps that have eaten into its market. The corporation’s flagship product, Dstv, had and still has an edge over the competition because it exists in a market with insignificant competition – but even when you have the best product in the market but price it expensively, you can get only get away with it for so long. Rivals such as Kwese have already shut down their satellite signals, citing harsh economic times that made it unviable to run the service.

Over time, we have seen people mount pressure on MultiChoice to adjust its prices downward, and while it has done so in the past, subscriptions fees were still prohibitively high for a lot of people, especially for the premium plan that costs nearly KES 8000. The outcome is obvious: people are looking for better, cheaper alternatives, and some have taken extra steps to acquire streams through means that are not particularly legal based on who you ask.

To this end, and starting in September, users will pay less money to enjoy their favourite shows and sports events on Dstv. This is after Dstv Kenya hinted on a price cut, which has since gone live on its social media channels.

Here is the new subscription model:

DStv Premium from KSh7,900 to KSh7,500

DStv Compact Plus from KSh5,200 to KSh4,500

DStv Compact from KSh3,200 to KSh2,500

DStv Family from KSh1,900 to KSh1,200

DStv Access from KSh950 to KSh900

These developments are going to make a lot of people happy because you can get to enjoy EPL matches for KES 2500, or add KES 2000 to subscribe for Dstv Compact Plus that packages Champions League matches. So, if you have been reluctant about picking the product, then this is the right time to do so because the price cuts are significant and quite affordable.
