Samsung Galaxy Unpacked is happening today(5 PM Kenyan Time). There have been many leaks of what Samsung will be announcing at this event, and here’s what we know so far.

Samsung is scheduled to announce the new foldables, including the new Galaxy Z Fold 3, the new Z Flip 3, the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series(Classic and Active 4) featuring WearOS 3, and the new Galaxy Buds 2.

The upcoming S21 FE and a new Note series for this year won’t be won’t be announced at this event.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

The Z Flip 3 has a revamped design and comes in four colours: black, green, yellow, and purple.

It will have a 6.7″ display with minimal bezels rocking a 120Hz refresh rate and a 10MP punch-hole selfie camera. The cover screen will be 1.9″ wide.

Z Flip 3 will run the latest silicon which is the Snapdragon 888 processor plus 8GB of RAM, Android 11 and OneUI 3.

The rear dual cameras will be in a vertical alignment – each at 12MP. For power, we expect a 3300mAh battery.

We may see S Pen support.

It could launch at a $1200 price but we’ll see.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

Samsung is adding stylus support for the Z Fold 3 according to leaks that show the new foldable having a case that will hold the S Pen that’s now also supported by the S21 Ultra.

Samsung is rumoured to include IPX8 water resistance for the Z Fold 3 in green, black, and silver colours.

Powering the Z Fold 3 will be the Snapdragon 888 processor paired with 8GB of RAM, Android 11 and maybe OneUI 3.5.

A 120Hz refresh rate will be on both external and internal screens coming at 6.23″ and 7.55″ respectively.

We expect to see a triple camera setup that includes a 12MP lens, a telephoto, and ultrawide for optics. We’ll have a 10 MP interior selfie camera and a 4MP external selfie camera. Samsung is expected to have an improved sensor for clearer pictures with better image stabilization.

1. Inner camera hole fills in with the screen/app you're using. Won't notice it with normal use unless looking at the camera. Thin layer.
2. Power button more prominent. More of a press in button than the Fold2 flush button.
3. 10 grams lighter or 10oz VS 9.6oz#GalaxyZFold3

Other features include either an in-display fingerprint reader or a side-mounted one. A 4380mAh battery will reportedly be inside and the LTPO tech will help the battery last longer since it’s smaller compared to the 4500mAh battery of the Z Fold 2.

Samsung may announce a Z Fold 3 Lite or FE but will see.

It is also expected that, unlike its predecessors, the Z Fold 3 will be cheaper starting at $1600 as opposed to the $1980 the original Galaxy Fold debuted with. This change in cost could attract consumers wanting to check out the new foldable smartphone format especially since it packs new and improved flagship quality specs.

In December last year, TM Roh, Samsung’s head of mobile said in a company blog post that the tech giant planned to expand it lineup of foldable and make them more accessible.

“The Z Fold 2 was praised as a smartphone that reimagines what’s possible with mobile technology, and I’m excited to say, it’s just a hint of what’s to come as we continue to explore, evolve and expand this category-changing space,” reads the post.

We’ll find out if the pricing will be more affordable with tomorrow’s announcement of the new models.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Series

Samsung is slated to announce its new smartwatches – the Watch 4 series both in Classic and Active versions that are expected to be powered by the Wear OS 3 that Samsung co-developed with Google.

Wear OS could make the Watch 4 series have access to the best Wear OS apps and allow more consumers with non-Samsung smartphones buy the watch.

Watch 4 could feature 1.5GB RAM and 16GB storage paired with an Exynos W920 chipset that boasts of having 9X better graphical performance and 1.25X faster speeds than its predecessor.

We expect 7-day battery life on idle mode.

For protection, Watch 4 will have IP68 and MIL-STD-810G certification plus Corning Gorilla Glass DX.

In terms of sensors, the Watch 4 series will have HRM, BIA, EEG, gyroscope, accelerometer, ambient light sensor and barometer, an onboard GPS, SPO2 blood oxygen monitoring, and VO2 Max too.

Watch 4 Classic will sport a more traditional watch shape, plus a rotating bezel and in various sizes for more choice including 42mm, 44mm, and 46mm sizes.

Watch 4 Classic will be 5ATM water-resistant meaning it will be water-resistant up to 50 metres for 10 minutes perfect for low-velocity and shallow-water activities such as swimming.

In terms of finishes, Classic 4 will come in stainless steel and aluminium options.

The Watch Active 4 will have two side buttons and various colours including silver, rose gold, black and olive green and customizable watch bands.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2

Samsung earbuds are scheduled to retain the same design as their predecessors but ship with new colours including white, black, pink and pistachio green plus improved noise reduction thanks to the two microphones on the surface of the body.

It is expected that the earbuds will ship with 500mAh battery capacity in the charging case and each earbud is slated to have a 60mAh battery capacity.

Galaxy Buds 2 will have a full glossy finish, passive noise cancellation with active noise reduction.
