From the foldable Motorola Razr series to the budget friendly G series, Motorola offers a wide range of mobile devices for all users. Moreover, the brand has become reputable for its durable design, reliable performance and long-lasting battery life. The Motorola Edge 40 and Edge Pro are seemingly continuing with this trend.

DESIGN

The Motorola Edge 40 is a powerful, sleek and light weight device that released worldwide for the midrange smartphone market. The phone comes in a (7.6 mm) ultra slim profile featuring very thin bezels and a light weight of only 167 grams. The Edge 40 also features curved edges which tip into an aluminum back covered in a textured eco-leather backing. A glass variant is also available for the phone.

The phone is available in 4 colors; Nebula Green, Lunar Blue, Eclipse Black and Viva Magenta.

DISPLAY AND AUDIO

The display is a curved 6.55 inches P-OLED screen with a (1080P x 2400P) resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate and 1,200 nits peak brightness. For audio, there’s a pair of stereo loud speakers at the bottom. Additionally, the Edge 40 supports USB-C audio but doesn’t feature a 3.5mm audio jack.

CPU AND STORAGE

The phone is powered by a Octa-core (4×2.6 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) Mediatek Dimensity 8020 chipset which offers awesome performance both for gaming and normal day to day tasks. Moreover, the Mediatek Dimensity 8020 chipset has higher CPU performance scores compare to its competitor the Snapdragon 855.

Depending on the variant of the phone you buy, you’ll get either 128GB or 256GB of storage.

As for the RAM, all variants of the phone come with 8GB of RAM which is generally considered to be a good amount of RAM for a smartphone.

CAMERA

For the front camera setup, the phone comes with a 32 MP, (f/2.4. 0.7µm) wide lens featuring HDR that captures 4K@30fps and 1080p@30/120fps.

As for the front camera setup the phone comes with 50 MP, (f/1.41/1.55″, 1.0µm, multi-directional PDAF, OIS) wide lens and a 13MP (f/2.2, 120˚) ultrawide lens featuring Dual-LED flash, HDR and panorama. The rear camera setup captures 4Kvideos@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps and 720p@960fps.

DESIGN

Design wise, the Motorola Edge 40 and the Edge 40 pro are pretty much the same but with slight variations in weight, height and thickness.

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro comes in a broader (8.6 mm) slim profile also featuring ultra-thin bezels and a slightly heavier weight of 199 grams. The Edge 40 plus also features curved edges which tip into an aluminum back covered in textured eco-leather backing.

The phone is available in 2 colors; Interstellar Black and Lunar Blue.

DISPLAY AND AUDIO

The phone rocks a curved 6.67 inches OLED screen with a (1080P x 2400P) resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate and 1,300 nits peak brightness featuring Dolby vision.

The phone also features a corning Gorilla Glass Victus both front and back to protect the phone’s screen from fall damage.

CPU AND STORAGE

The Motorola edge 40 Pro is powered by a Octa-core Qualcomm SM8550-AB Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The premium processor contributes to significant performance increase in graphics processing, ray tracing, AI processing, gaming fidelity and power efficiency. Additionally, the chip can handle normal day to day task with utmost ease.

The audio setup is the same as the Motorola Edge 40’s. We get a pair of loud stereo speakers at the bottom, USB-C audio support and no 3.5mm audio jack.

Depending on the variant of the phone you buy, you’ll get either 256GB or 512GB of storage.

As for the RAM, all variants of the phone come with 12GB of RAM which has sufficient capacity to run all the latest apps and games without experiencing lag.

CAMERA

For the front camera setup, the phone comes with a 60MP, (f/2.2, 0.61µm) wide lens featuring HDR that captures 4K@30/60fps and 1080p@30/60fps.

As for the rear camera setup the phone comes with 50 MP, (f/1.8/1.55″, 1.0µm, multi-directional PDAF, OIS) wide lens, 12 MP (f/1.6) telephoto lens and a 50 MP (f/2.2, 114˚) ultrawide lens featuring Dual-LED flash, HDR and panorama. The rear camera setup captures 8K videos@30fps, 4K@30/60fps and 1080p@30/60/120/240/960fps.
