New Year’s Eve: Where to Watch Fireworks in Kenya on 1, 2025

Numerous firework displays are scheduled to light up the skies in various parts of Kenya when the world and everybody will be welcoming the new year 2025 this Wednesday.

If you’re a fireworks lover in Nairobi, you’re in one of the best cities to experience the magic of pyrotechnics against an iconic urban backdrop.

As it has been almost a tradition, the country-famous New Year’s Eve fireworks at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) will once again light up the sky of our magnificent city to celebrate the start of a prosperous new year.

Old Mutual East Africa Group has also confirmed that it will host a fireworks show atop its iconic 33-storey UAP Old Mutual Tower, Kenya’s second-highest building, which offers panoramic views of the city’s skyline from its location at Upper Hill Road, Nairobi.

This year’s show is going to be “bigger than ever before,” according to Old Mutual, which has already advised spectators to choose safe vantage points across the city with a view of their building.

You need not worry. You will be able to see the fireworks displays from any point in Nairobi where you can view the two historic buildings—and that includes a lot of places, such as Kenya Railway Museum, nearby streets, restaurants and rooftop bars, hotels with views of the skyscrapers, city parks, and even bridges.

Both KICC and Old Mutual Tower fireworks shows will begin a few minutes before midnight, with street musical performances as usual, followed by an almost 25-minute fireworks display at around 11:59 PM.

If you don’t like big crowds, you probably won’t enjoy being at KICC or Old Mutual Tower with approximately 999,999 other people, though these events are free of charge. Fortunately, across the city and country there will also be plenty of amazing themed extravaganzas, all-night ragers, and dance parties that will involve fireworks but are not free. If you want to join in the celebrations on the night, you must secure a ticket in order to attend.

These ticketed events include New Year’s Eve celebrations at Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Nairobi, GTC Mall, and Dusit Princess Nairobi, where tickets start from Ksh 3,000. Additionally, Kilua Beach Resort in Mombasa’s North Coast is offering tickets at Ksh6,000 for adults and Ksh3,000 for children, with a buffet dinner and a live DJ to entertain guests.

In Eldoret, it is rumoured that there will be fireworks at Oscar Sudi’s Timba XO, which is the city’s number one nightclub, VVIP lounge, and restaurant along the Eldoret-Nakuru Road at Annex.
