On February 20, during a keynote event in Singapore, OPPO unveiled its latest smartwatch, the OPPO Watch X2, alongside the OPPO Find N5 smartphone.
The Watch X2 shares many similarities with the OnePlus Watch 3, introduced earlier the same week, with distinctions primarily in the design of the metal crown and the exclusive Summit Blue color option for the OPPO model.
Design and Build
The OPPO Watch X2 features a 46mm titanium alloy bezel, offering a balance of durability and lightness. The Lava Black variant includes a black PVD titanium bezel, while the Summit Blue variant presents a dual-color PVD titanium bezel.
The smartwatch weighs 49.7 grams without the strap; with the strap, the Lava Black model totals 81 grams, and the Summit Blue model is slightly lighter at 76 grams.
The device has a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display, protected by a 1.25mm-thick sapphire crystal glass for enhanced shock resistance. The screen offers a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels (310 PPI) and a peak brightness of up to 2200 nits, ensuring clear visibility even under strong sunlight.
It also supports an Always-On Display (AOD) feature. The Watch X2 has achieved MIL-STD-810H certification, passing 16 military-grade endurance tests, including assessments for shock, vibration, immersion, and extreme temperature variations.

Performance and Battery Life
Powered by the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset and an upgraded BES2800BP chip, the OPPO Watch X2 aims to deliver optimal performance with efficient power consumption.
It incorporates OPPO’s Silicon-Carbon battery technology, housing a 648mAh battery that provides up to 5 days of usage in smart mode under standard conditions, up to 3 days under heavy use, and up to 16 days in power-saving mode.
The Watch VOOC Flash Charge feature enables a day’s usage from a 10-minute charge and achieves a full charge in approximately 80 minutes.
Software and Connectivity
Running on Google’s Wear OS 5.0 combined with ColorOS Watch 7.0, the OPPO Watch X2 offers a user-friendly software experience.
It supports Google Assistant, Google Wallet, Google Maps, Google Calendar, short video playback control for platforms like TikTok and YouTube Shorts, and remote camera control.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 5 (supporting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands), Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band GPS (L1 + L5) for accurate location tracking, and NFC for mobile payments.
Health and Fitness Features
The smartwatch incorporates OPPO’s proprietary OPPO Sense algorithm, facilitating real-time health monitoring.
Features encompass ECG analysis (to be enabled via an OTA update in Q2 2025), vascular health monitoring, continuous heart rate tracking, sleep analysis (covering REM phases, respiratory rate, and snoring risk assessment), body temperature measurement, blood oxygen (SpO₂) monitoring, and fall detection.
It integrates seamlessly with Google Fit and Strava for fitness tracking and supports over 100 workout modes, offering advanced tracking for running, skiing, tennis, badminton, swimming, and cycling activities.
The OPPO Watch X2 is available in two color options: Lava Black, priced at SGD 499 (about KES 48,200), and Summit Blue, priced at SGD 549 (about KES 53,000).
While it might be a tough ask, I would love to see this smartwatch lineup finally brought to the Kenyan market to compete with other brands.
