Last December IBM opened a facility in Beijing to promote adoption of open source virtualization technology in the financial sector. The company is planning to do the same in New York with the KVM Center of Excellence. Interested parties will get training and hands-on experience on building enterprise KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) solutions. IBM Business Partners including Red Hat and SUSE will also showcase their KVM-based solutions at the KVM Center.
The company’s cloud services and software will be based on OpenStack and KVM. This is part of IBM’s effort to promote industry-wide open standards for cloud computing.
