New Image Leak Confirms Galaxy S4 Zoom Phone Capabilities

We have known for a while that it exists. We all know it is going to be the camera phone to beat. Heck, I even anticipated new leaks about this device in a few hours and from the foregoing, I’m not disappointed. However after the last round of image and render leaks, many were not sure if the Galaxy S4 Zoom will have cellular phone capabilities or it will be just a camera like the Galaxy Camera.

All that has been seemingly confirmed in a new image tweeted by @Techstaticen a few hours ago. While the image does not give us a glimpse of the front, bearing in mind that the last images of the S4 Zoom to leak were from the same source, we can assume the S4 Zoom retains the same Galaxy Camera look for its front face while still being a phone from the behind. The image shows Samsung’s cloned Android messaging app in action on the device using the model number SM-C101 and also the all-too-familiar Samsung keyboard found on its high end devices and confirms beyond reasonable doubt that indeed the S4 Zoom will have phone capabilities as well as run on Android. See the image below.

Galaxy Note III

In other news, yesterday saw the publishing on the world wide web of the first images of the Galaxy Note III’s prototype. The images published by SamMobile and (you guessed it right) TechStatic, point to a 5.99 inch phablet and go ahead to suggest a Super AMOLED full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC clocked at 2.3GHz backed by an Adreno 330 GPU, a 13 megapixel front-facing camera shooter, Bluetooth 4.0 + LE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC support, an IR Blaster and LTE-Support. On top of that are the usual goodies: Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean laced with TouchWiz with Nature UX and the S-Pen (with improved functionality). The leaked model number is very rare and hardly associated with the Galaxy Note lineup: SM-N900. However these are just prototypes.

Galaxy Camera

While all our focus and attention is on the upcoming camera phone, the galaxy S4 Zoom, the camera itself (without cellular phone capabilities) is still in the works but it still can’t hide. Details are emerging of the Galaxy Camera. Whereas the S4 Zoom is expected to pack a 16 megapixel shooter with 10x optical zoom, the Galaxy Camera is said to pack a 20.9 megapixel sensor. We expect more details about this device to emerge going forward. Its model number as per the leaks is EK-GN120.

Galaxy S4 LTE Advanced

Leaks suggest that this will be reserved for Samsung’s home market, Korea. Makes me feel jealous of those people since this variant of the Galaxy S4 will pack the powerful Snapdragon 800 SoC that is also expected to power the Galaxy Note III as pointed out above. The device is expected to have the Adreno 330 GPU alongside the 2.3 GHz clocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and retain the 2600 mAh battery that the other Galaxy S4 variants pack. That is the much we know about the SHV-E330S. This device has recently spotted in AnTuTu benchmark results (where we also spotted the GT-I9600 running Android 4.3.2 not long ago) as seen in the screen grab below.
