Santos Okottah founded the platform after having worked for Nation Media Groups digital division where he interacted with artists who inspite of their potential to impress the global market had been ignored by the mainstream media.
Through Eziki, an artist or any media organization can create their own exclusive channel where customers get to experience their videos. By posting regular videos on Eziki.tv, the content creator then grows a fanbase around their product. Revenue generation on the platform is driven by the viewing of premium content, ads and checkouts made through the shopping cart. The content provider then shares the revenue with Eziki according to an agreed percentage. The basic service on Eziki is provided free of charge although there are professional accounts with additional paid features.
The online TV site has partnerships with Fox Theatres, IMAX and local film producer Jitu Films who have posted their videos on Eziki. Eziki TV hosts videos from more several content providers including TV shows, theatre, music videos from premium content providers and independent film makers. Sarakasi, The Pasua Show,Heartstrings Kenya and Juliani highlight some of the artists whose work is hosted on the platform. Eziki users can stream videos on demand free of charge on their mobiles, TVs and PCs.
