Xtouch PF83

Immediately after introducing the brand that is Xtouch in Nairobi, Robert Lian went on to introduce the devices that will be selling in the country and region. This is new territory but they have been doing business in other countries and had already launched and made inroads in South Africa and Nigeria, this is in the Africa continent, they are selling in Europe and Middle East countries too where Robert says they are growing quite fast. Tablets market is still largely unexplored worldwide. Below is their tablet portfolio to be sold in Kenya, three out of the 21 tablet range they already have:

Xtouch PF83
Xtouch PF83

The PF83 is deemed by Xtouch as the premium iPad mini competitor. The messaging, design and size say it all. Infact the display is explicitly compared to the iPad mini with words like “The same IPS LCS as iPad mini”. It does look good design-wise with much having been borrowed from the Xtouch X3.

Here is the specs sheet:

  • Mediatek Quad core processor with no detail on the clocking
  • Arm Cortex A7 chipset
  • Mali 400 GPU
  • 8GB internal storage, expandable to 32GB via microSD
  • 1GB RAM
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • 7.85 inch IPS LCD display, 1024 x 768 pixels
  • 5 point capacitive touch
  • 2MB rear camera, 0.3 front
  • Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11b/g wireless
  • 3G
  • microUSB
  • 200 x 136 x 7.9 mm dimensions
  • 351 grams
  • 5200mAh Polymer battery
  • Colours are Black and White

Xtouch QF72
Xtouch QF72

The QF72 is the smaller sibling of the PF83 at 7 inches in screen size. There is also some specs difference, so pay attention. Here is the specs sheet:

  • Mediatek Dual Core Processor clocked at 1.3Ghz
  • Cortex A7 Chipset
  • ARM Mali 400 GPU
  • 512MB RAM
  • 8GB Internal storage and 32GB microSD support
  • 7 inch display at 1024 x 600 pixels
  • 2MB rear and 0.3 front cameras
  • Dual-SIM card support, 3G
  • Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11b/g wireless internet
  • microUSB
  • 190 x 109 x 9.5mm dimensions
  • 298 grams
  • 4000mAh Li-Polymer Battery

We do not have price details for this one but we’ll update as soon we get hold of it.

Price for the Xtouch QF72 is Kshs 12,000.
Xtouch PL71
Xtouch PL71

PL71 is the bare minimum tablet from Xtouch. Comes running Android 4.0 in a 7 inch low resolution screen. design is noticebly different from the other two but the focus here is functionality and availing tablets at low costs. Basics like GPU and front chat cameras are addressed, the main compromise here is no support for 3G even with a SIM card slot, it’s limited to 2G. Let’s see that it has underneath, shall we?

  • A13 1Ghz processor, not much detail
  • Mali 400 GPU
  • 512MB RAM
  • 8GB NAND Flash, support of 32GB microSD
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 7 inch 800 x 480 display
  • 5 points capacitive touch
  • Both cameras at 0.3 MP
  • Sim card slot, only supports 2G
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • MicroUSB
  • 193.5 x 123.5 x 10.6mm
  • 328 grams
  • 3000mAh Li-Po Battery
