Remember that limited edition Batman-themed Samsung smartphone we highlighted late last month? Well, it is coming to Kenya. Unlike previous years when such exclusive devices have been the preserve of a few Asian and Western markets, consumers in Kenya will be getting the rare chance of being able to place an order for one.
Pre-orders for the Limited Edition Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, which was released to commemorate the third anniversary of Warner Brothers Interactive’s Injustice: Gods Among Us blockbuster movie, have opened.
Those interested in buying the device have to place their order online and then pay at least 50% of the device’s Kshs 120,000 price tag at Samsung’s participating brand stores to confirm their order. Upon a successful pre-order, customers can wait to pick up their device(s) a week from now, on Friday, June 24th at the chosen store.
In Nairobi, the participating Samsung brand shops are the ones at Valley Arcade, Galleria, Westgate, Thika Road Mall, Garden City, Capital Centre, the Village Market and Samsung’s Delite flagship brand store at the ICEA Building. Outside the capital, the participating Samsung brand stores are the ones at the West Side Mall in Kisumu, Digo SES (along Digo Road) in Mombasa and Bright Pharmacy in Meru.
Safaricom shops and FoneXpress stores are also offering the device (we’ll update this article to reflect the pre-order sites for them once they are live).
Samsung is limiting pre-orders to two units per person since the company is only offering 50 units for sale in Kenya.
Just as is the case globally, local buyers of the Galaxy S7 Edge Injustice Edition will be getting free virtual reality gear (Gear VR), an Injustice cover and some vouchers for virtual reality content on the Oculus store.
The Galaxy S7 Edge Injustice Edition is similar to the standard model in terms of design, features and specifications but has a few additions that enhance its looks like the Batman theming. The same Batman theming extends to the user interface. The Injustice: Gods Among Us game is also pre-loaded on the device.
