Instagram is a huge social network in its own right. It recently passed the 500 million monthly active user mark which makes it bigger than Twitter or Snapchat although it still trails its mother ship Facebook which has over triple that number. With such a huge user base, this means that popular people will tend to have really huge follower count who get massive engagement on each posts they post on the site.
If you don’t know, Selena Gomez, the popular American singer is the most followed person on Instagram with a whopping 89.5 million followers which is double her count on Twitter for example. In addition to her position as the most followed person on Instagram, she achieved another milestone where now she has the post with the highest number of likes so far.
The photo is rather a special one for her where she is seen drinking from a Coke bottle which has the inscription “You’re the spark” which is actually from her song “Me & the Rhythm.” The post has garnered over 4.2 million likes which unseated the previous record holder which was a photo posted by Justin Bieber that also featured her that got 3.7 million likes. However, Selena’s photo is yet to beat Justin’s in terms of comments as her’s got over 97,000 comments yet Justin’s got over a million comments on the photo.
She even talked to the Hollywood Reporter about her Instagram strategy: “I’m not sure there’s a method to my madness,” she told the publication, “If a caption isn’t coming to you, use emoji and let it be.”
