For those who were excited by the re-entry of the Moto (formerly Motorola) brand in Kenya, I am sure you must have been disappointed when the company (now Lenovo) did not hit the shelves as we had expected. Despite the Moto Z and Moto Z Play being on sale for the past three months, it has not been that easy to get a hold of the devices.

Well, Lenovo East Africa knows that and the company is now partnering with Safaricom to make all their devices available through Safaricom shops. The Moto G5 and G5 Plus which were announced earlier this year at MWC will be available in the country as from next week.

The Moto G5 is powered by a Snapdragon 430 processor, has a 5.0-inch Full HD display, 13 MP main camera, 5MP selfie camera and a 2800 mAh removable battery. Storage options are either 16 GB internal storage with 2GB RAM or 32 GB internal storage with 3GB RAM.

The G5 Plus has a 5.2-inch Full HD display, 12MP camera with Dual Autofocus Pixels for super-fast autofocus, 5MP selfie shooter and a 3000mAh battery all powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor. There are 32GB and 64 GB variants of the G5 Plus with either 2,3 or 4GB of RAM.

Reports indicate that the recently announced entry-level Moto C and Moto C Plus will also be available at Safaricom Shops.

The Moto C features a 5.0-inch (480*854) display, MediaTek MT6737 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB/16GB internal storage, 5MP camera, 2MP selfie camera and a 2350mAH battery.

The Moto C Plus has a 5.0-inch 720p display, either 1 or 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage an 8MP camera and a 4,000mAh battery. The processor and selfie camera remain the same as the Moto C.

No pricing details have been released but the Moto Z has been retailing at Ksh.70,000 while the Moto Z Play has been retailing at Ksh.55,000.

Hopefully, Lenovo can make these devices more affordable.
