Telkom Kenya has announced a cloud-based fixed voice service named Omniconnect that will allow SMEs and corporates outsource for robust, secure and innovative technologies. The carrier’s Hosted PBX service will be tasked to deliver end-to-end software and hardware system that is provided by a company called Avaya.
According to the mobile operator, enterprise customers can use Omniconnect to make and receive phone calls, which also includes additional features such as conference calls and the ability to integrate with email and mobile phones.
Omniconnect is available as a subscription service and can be used to drop the need for enterprises to make a budget for an initial capital investment required to set up and maintain a fixed telephone line. Additionally, businesses do not need to host telephone systems on their facilities. The new cloud product also supports flexible upgrades or downgrades in line with organizational requirements.
“This solution will free corporates and SMEs to focus on their core businesses, without being bogged down by the cost of acquiring, running and maintaining this system. This is the future of doing business; enabling them to become more efficient in their operations by simplifying their processes and infrastructure,” said Telkom Enterprise MD., Kris Senanu.
Telkom says that Omniconnect is competitively priced, with respect to on-net/off-net rates and billed per second that promise substantial cost savings.
“The service guarantees security and in-call stability. It runs on a secure system, deployed on Telkom’s backbone network, to protect it from direct access through the Internet, and confers an extra layer of security,” added Mr. Senanu.

Omnipresent comes in three offerings: two plans for corporates namely Silver and Gold, and one offer for SMEs.
