YouTube is undeniably massive worldwide with its 2 billion user strong user base. It is also quite popular in Kenya and from Google statistics, Kenyans have been watching a lot of local content this year.
Google has released their YouTube Kenya End of Year List 2020 and it has revealed the most popular videos Kenyans watched in 2020.
Starting with music videos, the top music video for the year is Dusuma by the popular singer Otile Brown. So far this video has gained close to 17 million views on YouTube this year which is pretty good in this market. Second on this list was Teamo by Rayvanny which is second on the list while Jeje by the Tanzanian artist Diamond was third in the list. Sauti Sol was fifth in this list with their single Suzanna and then Gere by Tanasha Donna and Diamond was fifth in the list.
The non music video category was also pretty interesting. The top video on this list is Dine with the Murayas Season 2 Episode 6 which was thanks to the social media buzz about the disagreement amongst the popular couple Size 8 and her husband Dj Mo. Second place was held by the comedian Flaqo where his Mama Otis/Otis Amefail Exams skit became viral. Social Distance by the Nigerial Mark Angel Comedy was third in this list followed by President Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto arriving to view former President Moi’s body at Parliament.
