Infinix Zero X Pro Full Review

We’ve spent a good amount of time with the Infinix Zero X Pro after its launch in Kenya, taking it through its paces for this comprehensive review.

While you waited, we took it through our first look review and camera performance.

Before we delve in, Infinix launched three versions of the Zero X series including Infinix Zero X, Zero X Pro, and Zero Neo.

The focus o this review will be the Zero X Pro which is the top of the line. The series shares some features which we’ll be mentioned in comparison.

Infinix Zero X Pro has a pretty competitive spec sheet.

Design

The first thing you’ll notice right after unboxing the phone is the camera bump that boasts a 108MP triple-lens setup. But before that is the Galaxy Dual Glass Back finish and light finishing. I loved the premium construction.

Our Nebula Black variant has a starry pattern. You can also choose between Silver and Tuscany Brown colour options.

Infinix Zero X Pro Triple 108MP camera setup

The island houses a 108MP triple camera setup that also includes an 8MP ultrawide lens with 120 degrees field-of-view and an 8MP periscope lens with 5X Optical zoom and 60X hybrid zoom.

Infinix Zero X Pro sports a 6.67″ AMOLED screen with 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution and 515 nits in terms of brightness. The display is the right size and Infinix tossed in 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz sampling rate for high fidelity scrolling, smooth animations, and swipes.

The right side of the phone features the volume rockers buttons and power buttons.

There’s a microphone, USB-C port, headphone jack and speaker grille at the bottom. The left side has a dual nano-sim and external microSD card slot.

The stereo speaker was pleasantly clear in tandem with the earpiece on the top bezel.

We have face unlock and an inbuilt fingerprint reader for authentication.

Overall, the Infinix Zero X Pro is a solid piece of hardware fitted tightly together.

There’s a textured and grippy black rubber case included for those who prefer casing up their phones.

Performance

Infinix Zero X Pro performance held up pretty well after my first look review.

The synergy between the hardware and software ensures this phone absolutely flew during my use.

We have a Helio G95 processor and Mali G76 GPU coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. Infinix Zero XPro features extended RAM up to 3GB which means the phone can now have 11GB of RAM.

I didn’t experience any stuttering, sluggishness or slowdowns on the Infinix Zero X Pro as it effectively chewed through every task I threw at it with ease likely thanks to the speedy processor and substantial 11GB of RAM slapped under the hood.

The Infinix Zero X Pro will definitely handle anything you throw at it.

The high refresh rate too comes through making the entire user interface, multitasking, opening apps, swiping and scrolling smooth and fluid.

The gaming experience maintains the same stable performance theme.

The Infinix Zero X Pro delivered peak and sustainable performance during my heavy gaming sessions in Grimvalor, PUBG: New State, Genshin Impact and Asphalt 9: Legends.

Lighter games were a breeze like in Alto’s Odyssey, Two Dots, Ninja Arashi 2, and Linn Path of Orchards.

Android 11 and XOS 7.6 come baked in.

XOS 7.6 has nifty features like App Lock, XClone, XProof that obscure the screen when using the phone in public, Game Zone, Sound localization, DTS audio processing, Dar-Link Ultimate Game Booster and Thunder Back Mode 2.0 to easily switch from one app to another.

Infinix’s Dar-link Ultimate Game Booster optimization engine software, which works with the smartphone’s hardware to improve graphic image stability and screen sensitivity.

The software experience has significantly improved but there are still a few bloatware apps that you can either uninstall or disable to your liking.

We should expect Android 12 and XOS 10 updates sometime later this year. XOS 10 is already available with the Infinix Note 11 Pro.

Cameras

I’ve already done a comprehensive camera performance review which you can read here but here’s the low down.

Infinix went with a kitchen sink approach with the cameras.

Infinix Zero X Pro Camera Review: Absolute Champ!

Both main and selfie cameras did very well both during the day and at night. Photos came out with the right amount of colour saturation, detailed, balanced, contrast and dynamic range.

Video performance was equally impressive.

Taking moonshots was spectacular.

Infinix Zero X Pro takes lowlight performance to new heights as you’ll see.

Infinix Zero X Pro camera performance is stellar – pun intended and not just because it can really good shots of the Moon but also regular photos both during the day and in low lit scenarios – which makes it miles better than its predecessor.

The Infinix Zero X Pro handles photography like an absolute champ! The upgraded hardware takes advantage of all that software mastery to produce results that are not only a huge improvement over last year’s Zero 8 but also makes the phone a worthy contender among its peers.

Battery Life Performance

Infinix Zero X Pro has a 4500mAh battery and 45W fast charging.

I was getting absolute standout numbers. I was going through a day of use clocking ab average of seven hours of screen-on time.

On other days, I could push it to the next day and juicing it a little in the afternoon.

Charging is pretty fast too. Here are the numbers you need to know:

  • 11 minutes takes you from 1% to 33%.
  • 26 minutes takes you from 1% to 69%.
  • 45 minutes takes you from 1% to 93%.
  • 56 minutes to go from 1% to 100%.

Verdict

Infinix Zero X Pro ships with the best offerings on the market – unique design, stellar performance, enduring battery, solid camera performance, wonderful sound and great screen.

All these propositions take the fight to what rival brands are offering in the same category.

Infinix Zero X Pro has a lot going for it with its well-rounded package and all-out performance and it succeeds, making it the best iteration in this series so far.

Pricing and Availability

Infinix Zero X Pro goes from Ksh 36,999.

The Infinix Zero X series smartphone is available offline at the company’s retail stores countrywide and online too at XPARK – their official online store and other online e-commerce partners.
