Infinix Note 30 Pro Review

Infinix Note 30 Pro is a really good midrange smartphone. An all round generational upgrade with features that make it worth considering. Great screen, attractive design, great performance, great cameras, great battery life complemented not only by fast wired charging but also wireless charging.

The Note 30 series launched last month include the regular, the VIP and the Pro which is the focus of our review.

UNBOXING

Infinix ships the Note 30 Pro with accessories like the earphones, 68W power brick, charging cable, case and factory applied screen protector, SIM ejector tool, and guides.

The 15W wireless charging pad is sold separately.

DESIGN

Infinix made sure the Note 30 Pro pushed its premium look as far as they could. The phone is all glass including the back. It’s frosted which is a good thing that makes it resistant to smudges. It is colour gradient for our Variable Gold colour version and it’s so beautiful.

It’s worth noting that the glass back makes the phone support wireless charging but more on that below.

Infinix doesn’t stop there with the back design. We get dual stereo speakers tuned by JBL – a bottom facing one and a top facing one. The audio is really good for consuming multimedia content.

Talking of multimedia, the screen is top of its class. This is a 6.67 inch 1080p AMOLED 10-bit screen with 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 900 nits. It’s so colourful and bright with decent contrast perfect for binge watching movies.

The phone has a Widevine L1 DRM rating which is good for streaming Full HD movie and series titles.

The high refresh rate makes sure that scrolling animations is really smooth and the gaming experience is more pleasant.

The haptics are all really good.

The sides are plastic with a glossy finish to add to the allure of how premium the phone is.

We get the volume rockers on the right above the power button embedded with a fingerprint reader.

The left side is the Dual SIM card slot with additional slot for expandable storage.

Lastly, the phone has an IP53 rating for dust and splash resistance.

Overall , I like the refined design that the phone comes in.

PERFORMANCE

Infinix Note 30 Pro includes 256GB of onboard storage which is expandable by MicroSD and uses a Helio G99 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 8GB of virtual RAM. This is a lot of processing power and the chipset goes toe to toe with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1.

Day to day performance is really excellent – ranging from light office work to heavy multitasking and gaming – the phone will keep up very well.

Android 13 and XOS 13 come baked right in.

XOS offers neat features like Lightning Multiwindow, XCLone, Peek Proof, XArena, Dar-Link, Monster Game Kit, separate notification shade and control center, Suggestions, Game Mode and Bypass charging.

Android 13’s Material You design is also visible thanks to wallpaper theming that some apps follow including Google’s apps and some third party apps.

BATTERY LIFE PERFORMANCE

Infinix Note 30 packs a hefty 5000mAh battery with support for 68W fast charging. Half an hour of charging can top up the phone from empty to 75% so those who appreciate quick charging will live this feature.

The phone can push a day and half on moderate to light use. Heavy use will leave you with some charge for late night browsing so do not worry about the phone dying on you when you’re out and about.

You can also use the phone to reverse wired or wirelessly charge other phones or accessories like earbuds as well.

CAMERAS

Infinix Note 30 Pro has four cameras – a 32MP punch hole selfie and a triple setup at the back.

The camera island is relatively big and houses the 108MP main camera, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. I would have loved OIS to be included in the main camera but sadly, it’s not.

Video recording is capped at 2K(1440p) 30fps for the main camera and 1080 30fps for videos taken by the front facing camera. The video clips look fine and this is where OIS would have been a welcome feature.

The camera performance of the Infinix Note 30 Pro is one of its strongest suits. Photos taken during the day and at night are really good with nice color and detail.

The colours are vibrant with punchy saturation, decent dynamic range and white balance. Portraits are serviceable as well.

Overall, the camera system is really good for the price.

VERDICT

I had really high expectations with the Infinix Note 30 Pro and I’m glad to report that they were all met and then some more.

The Infinix Note 30 Pro is a no brainer. It handles tasks smoothly, the cameras are impressive, the design is attractive, the screen is rich and fancy and its more than reliable big battery energy plus the convenient fast charging.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

Infinix Note 30 Pro goes for Ksh 33,999.

It is available offline at the company’s retail stores countrywide and online too at XPARK – their official online store and other online e-commerce partners like Jumia.
