Samsung is reportedly considering its primary brand names for its flagship products particularly those under the ‘Galaxy’ name. So we might soon see smartphones that we have seen with the same brand for years now, come in with a different identity.
According to reports, this consideration comes as a response to the challenges that Samsung has faced with its top models including its foldable devices that have reported disappointing sales. This includes the recently released Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. That said, this drop in selling numbers has been associated heavily with the lack of innovation, with some suggesting they resemble products from Samsung’s rivals.
This is a sentiment that Samsung’s CEO, Lee Jae-Young even acknowledged after the company missed its internal sales target by nearly a billion dollars.
So why would Samsung want to drop the ‘Galaxy’ brand? Well, the South Korean company believes that the name no longer captures its high-end products. The firm is now reportedly looking to separate these top-tier devices from the mid-range offerings.
Some believe that a new name could help enhance Samsung Mobile’s brand appeal and bring renewed interest and relevance. However, this new step will need to be led by new ideas as well.
