Infinix Smart 9

The Infinix Smart 9, announced in September 2024 and released in October, offers impressive features and specifications at a price point tailored for budget-conscious consumers.

Design and Build

The Smart 9 is designed with practicality in mind, featuring a glass front, a durable plastic back, and a plastic frame. Measuring 165.7 x 77.1 x 8.4 mm and weighing just 188 grams, it is both lightweight and ergonomic. The IP54 rating ensures resistance to dust and water splashes, a useful feature for everyday use.

Display

The Infinix Smart 9 boasts a 6.7-inch IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering smooth visuals and a peak brightness of 500 nits for vivid and clear viewing even in bright outdoor conditions. The screen resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels ensures a decent viewing experience for browsing, gaming, and video streaming.

Performance and Software

Powered by the MediaTek Helio G81 chipset and an octa-core processor (2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.7 GHz Cortex-A55). The device runs on Android 14 (Go edition) with the XOS 14 overlay, ensuring a user-friendly interface.

Memory and Storage Options

With variants including 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, the Infinix Smart 9 offers flexibility for users with different storage needs. A dedicated microSDXC slot allows further expansion for storing more photos, videos, and apps.

Camera Features

The Smart 9 features a 13 MP primary camera with an auxiliary lens, supporting LED flash, HDR, and panorama modes. The selfie camera is an 8 MP lens with wide-angle capabilities, making it suitable for video calls and social media snaps. Video recording is capped at 1080p at 30 fps.

Battery and Connectivity

A robust, 5000mAh battery powers the Infinix Smart 9, offering extended usage times. Although the 10W wired charging isn’t the fastest, it is sufficient for its price category. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band support, Bluetooth, GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C 2.0 with OTG support.

Pricing and Availability in Kenya

The Infinix Smart 9 is readily available in Kenya, offering great value for money. Priced at KSh 14,500, discounts bring it down to as low as KSh 12,999 in some retail stores and online platforms.

Color Options

The Smart 9 comes in attractive color variants, including Metallic Black, Neo Titanium, Mint Green, and Sandstone Gold, allowing users to pick a style that suits their personality.

Why Choose the Infinix Smart 9?

At a price of Ksh. 12,999, the Infinix Smart 9 provides features typically found in higher-end devices, making it an excellent entry-level smartphone. Its durable design, efficient performance, and modern software enhancements make it a compelling option for users in Kenya and beyond. For Kenyan consumers seeking reliable technology at a budget-friendly price, this device stands out as a clear winner.
