Adobe has launched a dedicated Photoshop mobile app for iPhone users, with an Android version set to be released later. This expansion aims to provide broader access to Photoshop’s capabilities, aligning with the increasing use of mobile devices for content creation.
The new Photoshop mobile app includes a set of free features, allowing users to perform image editing tasks on their smartphones. These features include layering, masking, blending, and Generative Fill powered by Adobe’s AI engine, Firefly.
Users can blend images, graphics, and text; change colors using Tap Select or Lasso tools; replace backgrounds with AI-generated images or Adobe Stock selections; remove unwanted objects using Generative Fill; and clean up imperfections with the Spot Healing Brush.
Adobe offers a premium subscription plan at $7.99 per month, which includes additional features such as precise selections, targeted adjustments, advanced colour corrections, and expanded cloud storage. Premium subscribers also gain access to Photoshop on the web, enabling workflow continuity across multiple devices.
The mobile app integrates with Adobe’s ecosystem, allowing users to start projects on mobile devices and continue editing on desktops and tablets. The web-based version of Photoshop is now accessible across multiple browsers, including Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. This version includes direct integration with Adobe Stock’s library of free assets.
Adobe’s introduction of a freemium model for Photoshop on mobile offers essential features at no cost while providing an option for advanced tools through a subscription. This approach expands accessibility to the software and may attract a wider range of users.
