Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Delayed: What’s Behind the Unexpected Postponement?

Samsung Galaxy S25 edge

The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, originally expected to launch in April 2025, has reportedly been delayed by up to two months.

While Samsung has not officially commented on the reason for the postponement, industry insiders and leaks suggest the company’s plans changed at the last minute, shifting the release window to May or June.

The delay was first hinted at by Ice Universe, a well-known tech leaker, who cryptically teased “bad news” before officially revealing the postponement. Many rumors had previously suggested that Samsung had planned an April launch, making the last-minute change particularly surprising.

Although no official explanation has been provided, there are several possible reasons for the delay, including:

  • Production and Supply Chain Issues: Manufacturing complications or supply shortages could have impacted the production timeline.
  • Strategic Market Positioning: Samsung may have opted to delay the release to better align with competitor launches or ensure the S25 Edge receives maximum market attention.
  • Software Optimization: Final tweaks to One UI 7, based on Android 15, might be required to enhance performance and user experience.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: What to Expect

Despite the delay, the Galaxy S25 Edge remains one of the most exciting Samsung releases of the year. Based on leaks and early showcases, here’s what we can expect:

  • Ultra-Thin Design: The S25 Edge is rumored to measure just 5.84mm thick, making it one of the slimmest flagship devices on the market.
  • Titanium Frame: Following the trend set by the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the S25 Edge is expected to feature a premium titanium build for enhanced durability.
  • Stunning Display: A 6.6-inch 2K AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate should deliver exceptional visuals and smooth performance.
  • Powerful Performance: Equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, 12GB RAM, and 256GB storage, the S25 Edge aims to provide top-tier speed and efficiency.
  • Camera System: A dual-camera setup featuring a 200MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultrawide lens is expected to elevate smartphone photography.

Price and Availability

While the price remains unconfirmed, reports suggest that the Galaxy S25 Edge could be positioned between the Galaxy S25+ and the S25 Ultra. Estimated pricing in South Korea indicates a starting price of around $1,030 for the base model, with a higher-tier variant potentially reaching $1,120. However, regional pricing may vary.

Notably, Samsung is reportedly producing only 40,000 units initially, suggesting a cautious rollout to gauge market demand. This limited availability might make the S25 Edge harder to find in certain regions upon release.

Samsung has yet to confirm the new launch date, but based on current leaks, the device is expected to debut between May and June 2025.

Fans eagerly waiting for the next evolution of Samsung’s smartphone lineup should stay tuned for further updates from official Samsung channels.

The delay and limited production may be strategic moves by Samsung to test the market’s response to the Galaxy S25 Edge’s unique features, such as its ultra-thin design and premium build. This would also allow Samsung to position the S25 Edge effectively against competitors.
