Xiaomi has recently announced an extension of its software support policy, committing to six years of updates for a range of its smartphones. This initiative encompasses both flagship and budget-friendly models, ensuring users benefit from prolonged device longevity and enhanced security.

Tablet Support
In addition to smartphones, Xiaomi’s tablet lineup will also benefit from extended support:
- Xiaomi Pad 7 – Support until March 2028
- Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro – Support until March 2028
While the support duration for these tablets is slightly shorter, it still represents significant device longevity.
Xiaomi’s decision to offer six years of updates sets a new benchmark in the smartphone industry. Traditionally, extended software support has been reserved for flagship models, with budget devices receiving minimal updates.
By including models like the Redmi Note 14 in this policy, Xiaomi challenges this norm and demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction across all price points.
While companies like Samsung and Google have also expanded their software update policies, Xiaomi’s inclusion of budget models in its six-year support plan distinguishes it from competitors.
This move may prompt other manufacturers to reconsider their update strategies, potentially leading to industry-wide improvements in software support.
