Smartphone maker vivo has introduced its latest V series model, the vivo V50, to the Kenyan market.
The device arrives with a focus on mobile portrait photography, battery longevity, and design, aiming to cater to users looking for a mix of style and performance in a mid-range device.
A key highlight of the V50 is its co-engineered ZEISS imaging system, which includes 50 MP sensors on all rear cameras. According to Vivo, this setup is designed to enhance portrait photography with professional-level clarity and color accuracy.
The main camera features a large 1/1.55” sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS), which may improve low-light performance and reduce motion blur. Additional software enhancements like AI Aura Light Portrait 2.0 and ZEISS-style bokeh effects provide users with more options for lighting and background blur in portrait shots.
On the front, the device offers a 50 MP wide-angle selfie camera with autofocus, alongside a 119° ultra-wide rear camera intended for group shots and landscapes. Video capabilities include 4K recording, and features such as AI Image Studio and Film Camera Mode are available for users interested in creative content.
Beyond camera specifications, the V50 features a 6,000 mAh battery, which is relatively large for its class. Vivo’s proprietary BlueVolt technology supports 90W FlashCharge, with claims of up to six hours of talk time after a 10-minute charge. The actual performance may vary based on usage and settings.
Under the hood, the V50 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, supported by 12 GB RAM and an additional 12 GB of extended RAM. vivo states this configuration enables smoother multitasking and gaming, though real-world performance may depend on software optimization and user demands.
The device sports a 4D curved AMOLED display and is available in two colours: Mombasa Blue and Satin Black. It features an IP68 and IP69 rating for water and dust resistance, a feature not always found in smartphones at this price point.
The design includes a slim profile, curved edges, and anti-mistouch technology aimed at improving the user experience during gaming or media consumption.
The vivo V50 is now available in Kenya, retailing at KES 69,999, through both online and physical retail outlets. It targets users seeking advanced photography tools, long battery life, and a sleek design in a single device.
