Snapdragon 8 Elite 2

Qualcomm is gearing up to unveil its most powerful mobile chip yet, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, with a launch expected at the end of September 2025.

The new platform is tipped to arrive in devices starting October 2025, just in time for the holiday flagship rush.

Key Expectations From Snapdragon 8 Elite 2

The chip is shaping up to be more than just an iterative update. Leaks suggest the SoC will be built on TSMC’s 3nm N3P process, which should bring notable improvements in power efficiency and heat management.

Performance-wise, Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 features

  • CPU: The chip is rumored to feature second-generation Oryon CPU cores with a base clock of 4.4 GHz, up from 4.32 GHz, promising up to 25% better performance.
  • GPU: An enhanced Adreno 840 GPU is expected to push graphics performance 30% higher than the previous model.
  • AI and Architecture: Support for ArmV9 architecture, SVE2, and SME1 extensions should boost machine learning and computational photography workloads.
  • Memory Support: Expect compatibility with both LPDDR5X and the upcoming LPDDR6 RAM, enabling faster memory bandwidth and multitasking.

Xiaomi 16 Series

Leading the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 charge will likely be Xiaomi’s 16 and 16 Pro, rumored to launch in October. These phones are tipped to pack high-end features, including periscope telephoto cameras. A feature Xiaomi is expected to standardize across the 16 series.

Other OEMs also expected to adopt the chip include:

  • OnePlus 14
  • iQOO 15 Pro (with a massive, 7000mAh battery)
  • Realme GT 8 Pro (featuring a 200MP periscope camera)
  • Redmi K90 Pro (with a 2K flat display)

The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will likely serve as Qualcomm’s answer to Apple’s upcoming A19 Bionic, positioning it as the heart of premium Android flagships through 2026.

It will be the go-to platform for phones looking to compete on performance, gaming, and AI processing.

With Qualcomm pulling its launch timeline forward, it’s clear the company wants to give OEMs an edge and consumers more powerful phones sooner.
