Netflix is set to take viewers on an extraordinary journey beyond traditional entertainment, thanks to an exciting new partnership with NASA.
Beginning in summer 2025, Netflix subscribers will be able to stream live space events, including rocket launches, astronaut spacewalks, and stunning real-time views of Earth from the International Space Station.
This is the first time NASA’s live programming will be made available on a mainstream subscription platform, at no extra cost and completely ad-free.
The live space content will be powered by NASA Plus, the agency’s own streaming service that launched in November 2023. Since its debut, NASA Plus has been offering free access to documentaries, mission coverage, and educational programming.
Now, key elements of that experience will be integrated into Netflix, giving users a front-row seat to some of humanity’s most ambitious space missions.
This includes coverage of launches, crew activities aboard the ISS, and milestone moments from ongoing missions, all streamed in high quality.
The move is part of NASA’s bigger mission to make its science and exploration efforts more accessible to the public.
By teaming up with Netflix, which reaches over 700 million viewers worldwide, the agency hopes to inspire a new generation and boost global engagement in space exploration.
According to NASA, the goal is to meet audiences where they already are, on platforms they use every day, and to do so in a way that’s seamless and immersive.
More importantly, while Netflix requires a paid subscription, the NASA content will not come with additional charges.
Subscribers won’t need to opt into a separate package, and the live streams will remain free of ads, preserving the educational and awe-inspiring nature of the broadcasts.
At the same time, NASA Plus will continue to operate as a standalone, free streaming platform across its website, apps, and supported devices.
