Facebook today has announced that they have reached a new significant milestone: There are now 2 billion people that use the social network every month.
It took Facebook 8 years to gain a billion users, which they announced proudly in 2012 and now they have added the next billion users at a much faster rate, which is slightly under the five year mark.
In addition to this, Facebook revealed interesting statistics from the community:
- 150 million people use the love reaction emoji each day, of which 45 million are from the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
- More than 750 million new Facebook friendships are formed each day and of which 180 million are from the EMEA region
- More than 1 billion people use Facebook Groups every month and EMEA specifically comprises of 38% of the total.
Facebook also took the opportunity to announce “personalized experiences” that will coming soon.

Facebook will launch a personalized video which according to the company is a move to celebrate bringing the world closer together. You will be able to see your video in your News Feed or by visiting facebook.com/goodaddsup
On their goodaddsup campaign, Facebook will feature fun facts about how people are contributing to the community. Specifically in the US, they will share stories of people who inspire Facebook.
Celebrating the Good People Do
In relation to the statistic that a lot of you use the Love reaction emoji on Facebook, now when someone either reacts to a friends post with the reaction emoji, wishes a happy birthday or creates a group, they will get a message in their News Feed thanking them.
