Following a recent twitter outage that was presumed by some to have been caused by Dutch elections, there has been speculation as to whether twitter will be able to overcome the traffic that will result from world cup. This is the second time in 4 days that twitter has gone down and displayed the “Twitter is overcapacity” message on their homepage. Considering that twitter is famed to be one of the fastest social media means, this will be of great impact to world cup followers who rely on twitter for fast updates of stuff that is happening.
