Mobile Service provider yuMobile and FauluPopote, a Kenyan microfinance have partnered to launch a mobile powered commerce system. The system will be based on Elma(sadly the link to the Elma blog doesnt work, or maybe the 404 page has all the info they need to pass), a mobile commerce platform that is downloaded on your phone and enables you to purchase airtime from any provider, pay bills, store messages offline and also make payments for orders. Elma was developed and owned by Craft Silicone, a web applications development firm based in Nairobi.
This will enable yuMobile subscribers access this platform for convenient payments. I will confirm later whether payments will be fully done by Elma or will be conducted via Yucash. That and more details of the partnership coming soon.
