Android 4.0 SGS2

Android 4.0 SGS2If there is one thing that has been awaited for is this one, Android Ice Cream for Samsung Galaxy S 2 and Samsung Galaxy Note. These two make the bulk of the traffic coming to this site. Well, you know what? For the daring enough, here it comes. You can actually download Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.1 for SGS2 custom Rom. This is not an official release, though the guys at Samfirmware have already tested it and have a demo of a Galaxy S 2 (I9100) running on it. This build, dated 7th December is I9100 XXKP1 and it features the trademark Samsung TouchWiz UI and ofcourse the Ice cream Sandwich feel.

Features said to work well are calling, internet access and messaging. However there are apps that will keep crashing due to the OS incompatibility. You will also incur random reboots. So if you only use custom ROMS of are a first time flasher please wait on. You will lose your warranty while at it.

See the video demo that shows the ICS unlock  and also an option for face unlock, the faster Android 4.0 browser and the ICS icons. Now I see why we are told to wait long, there are reasons, just to make sure there are no fails like hardware compatibility and others like the force reboots.
