Set up as a startup accelerator, the Nailab has helped develop many ideas into viable business ventures. Over the past 12 months they’ve been host to a number of groups including MPrep recently featured in an interview on this blog. On Friday 10th of this month, the startups were graduating from the Nailab space and were getting ready to face their market. The startups moving out of the space include:
ViveVisuals
The company uses motion graphics to create visual campaigns and informercials. The brainchild of former Strathmore students, the company was created in 2011 and already has clients that include Hiil (Hague Institute for the Internationalization of Law) and Dettol.
MPrep
They are among the companies that walked into the Nailab with a ready made product. With the time they’ve spent in the space, they’ve been able to incease the number of students using the service to 5000. Their service uses text to help students revise their school work and the data is collected to help teachers identify the points where their students need attention. MPrep has won funding in contests that include Pivot East to a tune of $70,000.
MyOrder
With MyOrder, one gets to manage their orders, distribution and circulation of their goods. Notifications with the customer’s name, number and pricing are sent to the phone once the order has been placed.
BriteSkills
It is a meeting ground for students and trainers who want to learn new skills either through live lectures or already recorded videos. The rates for the offered lessons are affordable but they also include free content.
CardPlanet
The company has smart card solutions including the CampoCard, a single card that holds all relevant student data, serves as student ID, as well as a library card. With PesaCard, the company seeks to eliminate the need for carrying numerous loyalty cards, payment cards as well as serve as an interface to the different mobile money solutions.
Ukall Limited
Ukall provides customized products to their customers including UPay, a payroll solution with bulk data capture. This integrates into a UPay HR allowing the organization manage its personnel efficiently and UGuard created to help security companies monitor their security guards at different client sites.
Tusqee Systems Limited
Already catering to 10 schools and handling 50000 text messages per month, Tusqee provides a way to communicate school messages to parents, members of staff and other stake holders.
