Apple victory against Samsung in the recent Patent court case could just have been a blessing in disguise for Samsung in the short term, possibly in the long term too. Apple was awarded $1billion in damages and this has apparently has it’s back lash in the market. Samsung is reaping benefits in the market as the Galaxy S 3 sales have shot up outselling the iPhone 4s which on the other hand has gone down in sales. Global Equities Research Managing Director Trip Chowdhry attributes this to the rush by customers in the US to get Samsung’s flagship device before it’s nolonger available in the local market of US as a result of a ban. Retail stores Costco, AT&T, Sprint and Verizon are all reporting a sharp rise in sales of the Galaxy S 3 while the iPhone 4S sales plummeted. See Galaxy S 3 is known as the best Android smartphone in the market, and denying people a chance to buy it would trigger such reactions in a normal setting. That would mean alot in the total device sales in the quarter and the overall sales in the long run.
