Keen on faster delivery of goods and services to the people, the Kenyan government has implemented e-citizen services. These services are offered through a revamped e-citizen portal, which is a centralized hub for all these services. Select government services from various departments including National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), Department of Immigration, Ministry of Lands and the State Law Office, under the office of the Attorney General are currently available.
Payments for these services can be offered through various payment options with Safaricom’s Lipa na M-pesa being the most prominent. We have created an Infograph detailing the steps involved in making the payments.
To pay for goods and services via Lipa na M-pesa,
Step 1: Go to M-PESA on your phone
Step 2: Select Lipa na M-pesa option in the drop-down
Step 3: Select the Pay Bill option
Step 4: Enter the business number 206206
Step 5: asks for account number, which is automatically generated based on the service you used.
Step 6: Enter the amount, which was generated as an invoice.
Step 7: Enter M-pesa Pin Number and Press Send
Step 8: Confirmation message from M-pesa and you are set!
