No, it won’t be M&Ms or Malteasers or Malt Ball or Milkshake. It is Marshmallow as hinted to by the teaser three days ago. The next version of Android after Lollipop which is in its preview phase as Android M is codenamed Marshmallow. It will be the sixth version of Google’s mobile operating system.
While the Marshmallow codename was first outed by Googlers at the Google campus in Mountain View, California, a follow up posting on the official Android developers’ blog announcing the release of the final build of Android Marshmallow’s SDK revealed all the finer details including the version number, 6.0.
We hardly expected anything other than a point upgrade but it is what it is, Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The ceremonial statue at Google’s headquarters that usually signifies the arrival of a new flavour of Android is already up and now the countdown to the day when we finally get to see the final build of Android 6.0 unveiled on a new set of hardware rumoured to be from Huawei and LG starts in earnest.
