Facebook's New Notification tab update

Facebook is the largest social network we have currently and back in September when they announced their Q4 results, they revealed that they had 1.55 billion active users. Yesterday, they announced their results for Q1 and Facebook revealed interesting statistics.

The social media giant recorded $5.8 billion in revenue for the 3 months ended on December which was almost $2 billion higher than what they earned in the same period in 2014. In total, Facebook earned a cool $17.9 billion in revenue in 2015 which is over $5 billion more than the total earned in 2014 and a net income of $3.69 billion.

Indeed the company announced very promising results and Mark Zuckerberg had something to say about it. “2015 was a great year for Facebook. Our community continued to grow and our business is thriving”” He said “We continue to invest in better serving our community, building our business and connecting the world.”

In addition, Mark Zuckerberg posted interesting statistics about the Facebook community. Facebook has 1.59 billion active users up from 1.55 billion revealed on September. Also, there were 50 million businesses who have Pages on Facebook.

Other highlights for the year 2015 include:

  • An increase in Daily active users from 1 billion to 1.04 billion which was an increase of 17% as recorded last year
  • A 25% increase in daily active users who log in from mobile, which is now 934 million. Mobile still forms the bulk of the company’s active users
  • 1.44 billion mobile monthly active users, which is 21% up from 2014’s total and forms close to 91% of the total monthly active users.

Facebook’s financials have never been better and you may think it has reached a peak but there is evidence the company is growing each quarter. We can’t wait for the day Facebook will hit 2 billion monthly active users but that will take longer with the current growth rate.
