Opera Browser 1

Opera is one company we know very well thanks to their popular browsers. If you had a feature phone, you may have used Opera Mini and they also have browsers in smartphone platforms and also for the desktop.

On desktop however, they are not as popular as Chrome, Firefox or even Internet Explorer but it is still one of the browsers people use to surf the web. You may want to make it your default browser thanks to the integrated VPN.

VPNs or Virtual Private Networks are used by people around the world to bypass filters so in order to access certain websites. Due to the convoluted way in which the web is structured, not everybody can access certain websites and this means it has created a demand for this services. This VPN services are usually not free and are data capped on the trial version.

“We are the first major browser to integrate an unlimited and free VPN,” Opera says on their blog, “Now you don’t have to download VPN extensions or pay for VPN subscriptions to access blocked websites and to shield your browsing when on public Wi-Fi.”

The company also gave statistics on why they decided to include this feature in their browser. Apparently according to the Global Web Index, almost a quarter of the internet population use or have tried VPN services so indeed they are quite popular. The included VPN will allow you to mask your IP address, improve your security while using public Wi-Fi and for bypassing firewalls.

The feature is not in the regular Opera browser but on the developer version (Opera 38). The company introduced native ad blocking too last month and this is a series of updates to make more and more people to use their browser.
