Twitter is an excellent platform to meet new people thanks to its unique design where it is designed as an online chat room for people to talk about current events. We’ve been able to meet new people on Twitter thanks to this “no borders” support and it is one of the coolest things about the social network.

However, over time, Twitter has been serving up subtle suggestions all over your timeline to follow someone, especially if you have visited the profile. This is usually in a bid to make you connect with the person thanks to your tweets and now the company has amped that with a new tab called Connect.

Twitter already has the “Who to follow” tab which was a list of suggested people to follow but Connect is way more in-depth. Twitter says that they will consider who you already follow, tweets that you like, what is happening in the world and popular accounts in your area when they populate you with recommendations. When you click on the Connect tab which is the previous “Who to follow” button, the recommended list of people to follow are arranged according to these above categories and it is more in-depth than the previous strategy.

This is one of the steps the company is making in having a future where content on the platform is powered by intelligent algorithms. If you’re a power user, you may have noticed that Twitter is now forcing people to use its algorithm powered timeline which is a trend in the industry in making sure that users are served with content they would engage in.

The new feature is currently rolling out to everyone on iOS and Android so update your app and follow more people as Twitter intends.
