iHub innovation hub has partnered with technology giant Oracle in hosting The iHub & Oracle Hackathon. The event is to take place on 2nd-3rd December 2016 and will target local developers with solutions leaning towards tackling climate change. The hackathon will primarily focus om developer solutions in the environment and energy sectors.
Participants will during the hackathon be required to develop solutions that utilise the Oracle Application Container Service, a cloud platform implemented using Oracle Linux docker container that allows devs to polyglot applications like Java SE, PHP or Node JS.
Upon registration, interested participants will be required to attend a webinar that will offer an overview of the Oracle Application Container Service, a few days before the hackathon. The hackathon will charge a commitment fee of Kshs. 1050 per team, with the Kshs. 1,000 refundable to teams on the last day of the competition. The hackathon will only have 10 slots available.
Award: The top 3 best teams will receive cash prizes of :
- Winner: Ksh. 100,000/-(tax inclusive)
- 1st Runner-up: Ksh. 75,000/-(tax inclusive)
- 2nd Runner-up: Ksh. 50,000/-(tax inclusive)
The deadline for registration and payment is 24th of November, 2016 so interested developers should go right ahead and get involved.
