As the market for AI-powered devices expands, LG has jumped on the AI train with both feet by announcing a range of AI-powered robots that are designed to help human beings in their day-to-day activities. These intelligent robots are LG’s way of the company getting into the IoT game and proving that they are a brand to keep your eyes on. The AI-powered lineup include smart home robots to help you with your chores and a few other robots that function in other public spaces outside the home.
- Hub Robot – Smart Home
This robot is designed to be a personal assistant at home (just like the Amazon Echo and Google Home). The LG Hub Robot is powered by Amazon’s Alexa and it can perform basic tasks such as turning on the air conditioner and also connects to other smart appliances in your home. The Hub Robot has an interactive display that shows a wide range of information, it is also equiped with a camera for voice recognition, thus enabling the Hub Robot to recognize individual members of the family and even greet them differently. The Hub Robot can move and swivel in place, as well as express a wide range of emotions by displaying a face on its display. It is designed to respond to consumers using body language, such as nodding its head when answering simple questions, and is always aware of activities inside the home, such as when family members leave, come home and go to bed.
- Aiport Guide Robot
The Airport Guide Robot is an intelligent robotic assistant that is designed to offer relevant information (such as gate number, flight time and destination weather information) to travellers by simply scanning their tickets. The robot can offer directions to destinations within the airport and can even guide lost travellers to their gates or any other locations within the airport.
- Airport Cleaning Robot
LG’s obsession with airports does not end with the Guide Robot, they also announced a cleaning robot that is equipped with multiple sensors to clean and dust the airport. The Airport Cleaning Robot can clean tiles and even carperts, this robot is equipped with the latest in smart sensors and multiple cameras to ensure safety in even the most crowded airports. It has multiple sensors using light detection and ranging (LIDAR) as well as sensitive bumpers to detect obstacles and avoid them.
- Lawn Mowing Robot
Another robot announced is an intelligent lawn mower, that LG claims can give you an “impeccably cut yard”. This robot is equipped with similar sensors as the Airport Cleaning Robot for obstacle evasion and loaction awereness for an effective and accurate mowing.
